Work Experience

Education

DropDrop Studios

September 2016 - December 2016

Intern

I was tasked with learning the entire process and workflow by which the company operates and performing a gap analysis, to determine where the holes are and how to streamline productivity. Through some significant research, a lengthy interview process, and sifting through pages upon pages of notes, I managed to complete the task and provide some insight toward methods to ease communication and workload. I learned a lot about the way small businesses function, the amount of teamwork and accountability within such a tight knit team, and how to navigate the workplace with interpersonal relations throughout the hierarchy.

Anna's House

August 2014 - August 2016

Cashier / Host / Food Runner / Server

Through dedication, patience, and kind persistence I have managed to work my way up the job scale, and learned the perks and challenges that come with each different position. I have come to know quite intimately that there are no little jobs in the food service industry, and each person serves a specific purpose and only through cooperation and selflessness can we operate at peak level. My experiences here have taught me that not only is attitude everything, but it is a game changer completely. I have seen negative attitudes bring the energy of the whole staff down, and it has led to negative repercussions. I have also seen smiles and teamwork bring the entire team closer as a family as we share in milestones, stories, and well wishes for those who have left to pursue new opportunities to further their journey in life.

Old Chicago - Kentwood
August 2015 - February 2016
Server

During my time spent here, I learned the difficulties of balancing full time school, two jobs, relationships, and the rest of life's challenges, and how to adapt to such a large workload. My time here taught me that sometimes people don't know what they want out of life, and have no idea what to do about it. I began to appreciate every single person who I came into contact with, and met several people who were in the United States for the first time. I managed to serve a delightful gentleman his first meal on the continent. We are all wandering through life, coming into contact with strangers on a daily basis. It is always beneficial to be kind to people no matter what.

Barden Plater - Lacks Enterprise
May 2013 - August 2013
Racker

This job was full time factory work, standing and running around for eight or more hours, often up to six days a week. Working here taught me that 'hot' is a matter of perspective after working in heat reaching over 100 degrees near hot machinery in the middle of summer. I also gained a large amount of perspective, specifically in regards to the interconnectedness in our mainstream society, and just how much effort goes into making and mass producing any product or raw material out there. I also learned the importance of endurance and a positive attitude, especially when the heat tended to make everyone cranky and irritable.

Compass College of Cinematic Arts

Bachelors of Fine Arts in Cinematic and Media Arts

2013 - 2016

Cumulative GPA 3.79

Graduating Magna Cum Laude

Worked on over 50 short films and projects

This college experience has allowed me over 1000 hours on various film sets, doing a plethora of jobs throughout the entire process of production. I have been graced with brilliant mentors, and the opportunity to try and fail with dignity, to try, fail, and succeed at moving forward with bigger and better projects. I have learned that it's not about the quality of the fight, but the perseverance to keep moving no matter what life throws at me. I have learned that whether it is the best time of my life or projects that will never end, "this too shall pass" and I will carry on with the next thing.

I survived high school and learned that everyone comes from different backgrounds, but sometimes we're thrown together to get things done and survive together. Not only is what you do important, but how you do it and what kind of perspective you have. High school was the place I learned that everyone is the hero of their own story, and it doesn't always matter what part you play in people's lives, but sometimes simply being there is enough.
